We'll start with Volos- it's been a bit since I've given any updates on "Big Dude" as I call him.

Sitting like a good boy |
He's only barked once or twice since the last time, but he does growl. Him & Peryn are having some issues...they have stare downs as Peryn is trying to engage him in play--but Volos is not ready.
Volos still uses Rich's office for his "hide out" so to speak. The days he's really tired when I am working, he'll pass on in there. Otherwise you can find him in my office and when we're sleeping, he's in the living room, next to the couch. He listens very carefully for my movements because the second I am up and my mask is off---POOF there he is.
We often see him heading into our bedroom by himself. He sometimes lies down in there---but not while we're there. No.
He's pretty much comfortable with the whole house. He so badly wants to join the dogs downstairs. They go flying downstairs and he runs to the top of the stairs and stops. He's not ready to try the stairs, but he is so tempted. When I'm down there he stands up at the top wagging his tail. I am so looking forward to the day he goes down those stairs.

Another one Momma? |
He and Lada seem to have a nice "co existence" except when it comes to me. She is not fond of his trying to get my attention. Peryn & him.... still a work in progress.
Volos is an EXCELLENT passenger in the car. However, don't try to talk to him through the window. He'll turn his head away--doesn't matter if he's met you before...don't talk to him when he's in the car.
He's a tank...he is going to take me out one of these days. After he is finished with the bathroom, he comes flying at me and turns his body then slams into me.
He's a happy boy. He's a sweet boy. He's coming along. He doesn't run from everything as much as he used to. He's starting to trust us big time!
Still hoping to get him into the bedroom to sleep.
Fingers crossed.
One thing I've picked up on, belonging to a Bernese Mtn Dog group I've seen quite a few posts--videos of Berners in action. Volos is totally a typical Mtn Dog. He is such a lover.

Happy! |
She's slower and things that used to not bother her/get in her way they stop her now. Watching her on her front legs, it's obvious they're starting to get affected.
The one thing that overrode it all, she was having a blast. The look on her face as she chased them around barking, even when she was slowing down, she was so happy. THAT is the reason we deal with the disease. She's not ready just yet. Yes we're moving closer and closer to the time to say goodbye, but as long as she's down there running and barking and happy-as long as she can still do it so will we.
