A friend who worked with an animal rescue organization told us about Sheba. She was thrown from a truck. The people who rescued her took her in until their dogs attacked her. She then stayed with a foster home until we took her in as a playmate for Galen. She was very wary of men but she took to her Daddy & absolutley adored him. Her whole world was Daddy & Squeakies! Occassionally Mommy & Galen made it into her mind.

Bio written for Dogster in 2004

Hi Mommy
Hi. I'm Sheba. Things I love: Daddy. Daddy is the bestest. I also love balls or squeakies. If it's a squeakie ball-EVEN BETTER. Galen. He's my bestest friend. Walks, Frosty Paws & car rides. Things I hate: Goldberg picking on me, (although I'd give anything to have that right now as my brother is no longer here), Yelling or raised voices, not being able to go say hi to my neighbors. I also hate getting my picture taken. Galen poses, not me. That camera thing looks weird. Other things about me-I'm Daddy's girl. Mommy calls me her little "UN" because if I hear her raise her voice or yell, I come & make the peace. I use to love being outside all day but ever since we moved to the cool house, I prefer being outside only when the neighbors are so I can say HI. Then inside to my den (under the bed). OH! Another thing I hate, being "manhandled". I hate being handled by strangers (ie: Vet). I've hurt Mommy trying to get away from them. Other than that I'm a pretty happy pup. I did earn the nickname Mistress of Destruction because of the damage I did to the doggy room after we moved in.
I'm Soooo Happy!

Sheba was a sweet dog.   She was very gentle when she wasn't in protective mode. She instantly knew she had to be gentle with little kids and especially babies.

In her early years she was a ferocious fence guard against the kids playing ball next door.   She loved playing with Galen and Daddy. She was tortured by Goldberg and in the end they had a antagonistic relationship.

As she aged, she mellowed.  Where we once had to lock them up when we had people over, she now was part of the party.

Her FAVORITE thing to do in the final years was to go greet our neighbors whenever they were out.   She adopted both sets of neighbors into her pack and made sure she said hello.

She loved to sit around the fire pit with all of us.
After we lost Goldberg and adopted Duchess, she loved Duchess from day one.   They were a good match and had a lot to do with making the loss of Galen easier on Sheba.

Eventually Duchess and Athena brought out the youngster in aging Sheba. She pushed to be included in neighborhood walks and did a good job at it.

In the end, she was mostly blind and deaf.  The people of the dog park adored her and felt her loss.
