Volos

Born; 2015
Crossed the rainbow bridge: September 20 2023
Adopted: January 20 2020 approximately 5 years

Named : Volos
Breed: Bernese Mtn Dog

nicknames: Vo, Vovo, VoliVo, Handsome, Big Dude

Adopted from Ashland County Humane Society.

He was an unexpected surprise & adoption took place a month & a half after Duchess' passing.

For WEEKS after brining him home, he hid more in his "safe area/room" than anywhere else. For 8 weeks we didn't know if he could even bark.

He was so intrigued with the dogs running to the basement to play. First he would walk to the top of the stairs & just look down wondering what was going on.

Soon he was running after them & stopping at the top of the stairs to listen to them.
Next he was running & taking a step or two down,
Eventually he walked himself down because Momma was down there with the pups.  Then it became the norm that he would go down by himself to play with a toy or chew on a bone & then bark up at Momma.
He flew down those stairs, usually the first one (or the last one if he were still laying on the bed). Boy was nimble.

He was the life/energy of the pack. He was a happy boy who loved his toys, car rides, & people.  Lada & him formed an early bond.   Peryn & Him had a very adversarial beginning which turned into a mutual 'respect' play type of relationship. Peryn worshipped Volos.

Ziva pushed her way into his life even though he had no desire to have her around him.  She was able to "soften" him up where she could take from him without repercussions.

He wasn't a big fan of daycare. He would hide off in the corner & was often seen in the background against the wall in the early days. Eventually he took over the couch & was picky on who was allowed to join him (the beginning of the couch crew)

He was the most happiest pup when in the house. He loved Snow. Loved to lay & spread out in the snow. He LOVED to eat it.

He loved rolling in the grass.  He tolerated the farm because he could explore & stand int he water. He loved to find the squeaky toys.

He was a FANTASTIC traveler. Put him in the car & he'll sleep the whole time.

He became our border patrol. Momma bought so many toys & snacks that it became a regular/expected thing so he began inspecting all bags when entering the house.

He loved to climb up on top of Momma for attention.
Momma & Volos had a very special bond.

His unexpected illness & crossing devastated the family, most particularly Momma. The other 3 mourned him.

He cemented Momma's love for the breed.
